Victory in Europe Day (VE Day), marks one of the most important moments in British Army history. On 8th May 1945, after six years of World War II, Germany surrendered. Across the UK, millions celebrated the end of the war in Europe with street parties, parades and gatherings. This day is still honoured and celebrated every year, and 2025 marks the 80th anniversary.

Why VE Day Matter to Cadets

As a cadet, you are learning leadership, resilience and service, the qualities that helped secure victory during World War II. Many soldiers then were only a little older than cadets today.

VE Day is a time to reflect on their bravery, to appreciate the importance of training and kit, and to strengthen your own commitment to the cadet journey.

How Cadet Kit Compares to WW II Gear

While materials have changed, to improve comfort and durability, the purpose of kit has stayed the same and ensures you’re ready for action.
